We hope you will enjoy reading about the Claire Deane Bush Sanctuary situated deep in the heart of suburban Sydney and how it came into being.  Claire died in the bush she so loved whilst working for National Parks.  This site is dedicated to her memory.

With the help of bush regenerating volunteers who have come together four times a year since October 2000 to work in the Sanctuary, nature is again thriving here and the reserve a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

Bush lovers are always welcome to join us in helping to regenerate the site.

29 May 2022 - It was a beautiful sunny day. After all the rain bracken fern had taken over much of the Reserve. The other half is taken over by the Bush Turkey once again attending his massive breeding heap. Both things have helped keep the weeds down.

Time was spent clearing areas for planting then sleeving Banksia, Lambertia, Hakea, Lomandras, ferns and small ground covers to protect them from browsing wallabies and rabbits.

Dozens of Southern Pearl White butterflies were flying about the nearby planted native Caper Tree and visiting the Reserve.

Next bush regenerating date:  Sunday, 28 August 2022
Volunteers and friends are welcome to join us for as long as they wish between 9.00 pm and 12.00 pm.
